Program Note
The history of the saxophone, despite its brevity, is intricate and full of curious stories. As saxophonists of the modern era, we can look back with fascination and draw out our lineage. It is this remarkably clear lineage, or tradition, which I find the most captivating. There is a direct link between the first teachers and the students of today; a shared history of exploration. It is no coincidence that the newest books on technique share so much in common with those first published. Through this work, I hope to pay tribute to and participate in this tradition
