Program Note

A snowday is magical. I remember staying up on many cold nights, unable to bear another day of routine life, hoping for the perfect conditions in which that mysterious winter wonderland might occur. Eventually I would fall asleep, only to be awoken by the white shimmer of the morning sun on fresh snow. This was perhaps the greatest wonder I had ever experienced. The day was in my hands; for play, mischief, or most often, a mix of both. This composition aims to capture the joyful, playfully chaotic nature of a snowday which many people remember so fondly. It is my hope that this work will not only invoke memories in the listener but encourage them to get outside and make more.
